Page Bond Gallery is pleased to present GATHER, a group exhibition of works by established and emerging artists from Virginia, the region, and beyond. The upcoming exhibition will survey a wide range of art practices including sculpture, glass, photo based works, painting and works on paper. The exhibition opens Friday, December 14 from 6 to 8PM and is on view through January 7, 2019.

GATHER features the following 20 artists: Luisa Adelfio, Elizabeth Akamatsu, Will Berry, S. Ross Browne, Andrew Campbell, Isa Newby Gagarin, Roberto Jamora, Samuel Levi Jones, Kathleen Markowitz, Sarah Mizer, Tim O’Kane, Charlotte Rodenburg, Fiona Ross,, Alyssa Salomon, Peri Schwartz, Erling Sjovold, Sayaka Suzuki, Kazaan Viveiros, Sarah Boyts Yoder, and Deborah Zlotsky.

Based in Norfolk, VA and Palermo, Italy, Luisa Adelfio is a glass artist and sculptor. She earned her BFA at Wellesley College, where she was later awarded Best Collection of Work by their Department of Fine Arts. She is also the recipient of a London Silver Medal for dedication to Art and Science from the Royal Society of Arts.

Her work focuses on the translation of perception and memory through properties of her chosen medium, cast glass. She brings a contemporary approach to the diverse formation and potential of individual and family histories and memories. In recent years, her work has appeared in three international public installations and two solo exhibitions.

Roberto Jamora earned a BFA in Painting and Printmaking from Virginia Commonwealth University and a MFA in Visual Arts from Purchase College, State University of New York (SUNY). He paints primarily with oil and adds beeswax as a way to transfer aspects of a memory onto canvas.

His recent series, Passing Moments, is made up of paintings based on specific moments from his life. Color is used as a catalyst to return to a specific part of each memory these paintings capture. Many of these pieces are based on photos he has taken and/or posted to his social media.

Deborah Zlotsky’s paintings are a mash up luscious colors and shapes. Some are loopy and oddly architectural and others are ordered stripes or bands of color that wander into tiny surprising 3D moments. These unexpected detours make her work both whimsical and sophisticated.

She is the recipient of numerous fellowships and awards including a 2018 New York Foundation for the Arts Artist Fellowship in Painting. Zlotsky has a BA in the History of Art from Yale University and an MFA in Painting and Drawing from the University of Connecticut. She teaches at the Rhode Island School of Design.
